Shipping & Returns

Shipping within the US

We use UPS and the US Post Office to ship within the United States. The shopping cart will select the lowest cost shipping method by default. If you want to see all the available shipping options, go to your Shopping Cart and under the section Estimate Shipping Costs, enter your state and zip code and click on Update.

Why are some shipping costs so high?

Our warehouse is in Maryland and all products ship from here. Rates are based upon zones, and in all likelihood, you and I are not in the same shipping zone. Most of the items we ship are in the 6-20 pound range and there simply is not any way to ship these items at a low price. The latest problem is that all the major shippers (including the US Post Office) now use dimensional pricing which means they charge either by the weight of the box, or the size (volume) of the box. So a 16-wick stove that weighs 9 pounds costs over $33 to ship to California (US Priority Mail), but since the box size is 13x13x13, the dimensional weight is $46. I do reserve the right to select a different method than the one you selected if the one you selected is having delivery problems or if my actual cost greatly exceeds what my website calculated.

Shipping to Canada and Other Countries

We ship to most countries, though there are some countries I've turned off due to high risk, scam attempts and hacking attempts. I only ship via US Post Office International Priority Mail, with the exception of orders weighing 14 ounces or less, which can be shipped via First Class Mail. In the shopping cart, enter your country and postal code and click on Update. This will show you the shipping cost for your order.

Refunds

Any purchased item can be returned in new, unused condition within 90 days for a full refund, less shipping costs. Items that have been used may incur a 20% restocking fee solely at my discretion. Customer is responsible for damages to product during return shipping, so pack well and/or insure the package. US Post office almost always pays claims for mailed items, whereas other carriers will generally say you didn't pack it well enough.

Warranties

I have been doing business on the Internet since 1998 and if my customers weren't happy with their experiences, a simple Google search would reveal that. I'm a one-person company and I ship about 1000 to 1200 packages a year. I want you to be satisfied with your purchase and when you run into a problem, I typically will offer more than one option to you.

My stainless steel water filter bodies are warranted for 1 year (free replacement). Ceramic and/or carbon filters do not come with any specific warranty. If you have an issue, I will provide information and advice on how to solve the issue. Kerosene Stoves and Lanterns do not come with a manufacturer warranty, but I will provide replacement parts for one year at no charge.
